Connie and Joseph Jones – Canoe Island Camp
Insights from “Last Child In the Woods” by Richard Louv
Joseph and Connie will share insights gained from a conference they attended on how to get children back into nature, inspired by best-selling author Richard Louv. Research is showing that kids and adults who have had experiences in nature are better adjusted, more productive, are better problem solves, and physically and mentally healthier. Insurance companies and businesses are realizing that these sorts of individuals save them immense amounts of money and it is worth their while to provide funding sources to make camping programs more available to all youth.
